Ontario lowers thresholds for COVID-19 framework

After yesterday’s updated COVID-19 projections suggested that Ontario could see 6,500 cases a day by mid-December, Premier Doug Ford has updated the COVID-19 framework that will see York, Halton, Hamilton, Peel and Toronto regions move into the “control” zone.

This means that gathering limits have been reduced for organized events and religious services and bars and restaurants will have a capacity of 10 patrons among other changes. Full details here.

The current positivity rate in Ontario for COVID-19 is 4.4 percent, a 25 percent increase from last week.

Ford continued to stress that households in this zone should not be congregating with other households, trips outside of the home should only be for essential reasons and local public health measures should always be followed.

These changes come into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, November 16th, with the exception of Toronto where the changes will come into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, November 14th.

Government of Canada announces $1.5B to expand the Workforce Development Agreement

The Government of Canada is investing an additional $1.5B in the Workforce Development Agreements that are in place with individual provinces and territories. This investment will expand opportunities for marginalized groups and workers in the hardest-hit economic sectors to receive skills and job training to find new work as we rebuild the economy from the effects of COVID-19.
