The Government of Ontario announces $37M to expand mental health services across the justice system.
Today, Premier Doug Ford announced $37 million to expand mental health services across the Ontario justice system. The funding will be used to hire additional staff, expand mobile crisis teams across the province, and support tailored programs for Indigenous communities.
In an effort to better equip the justice system with tools to deal with the complexities of a growing mental health crisis, this investment will help support a more integrated approach to addressing mental health in Ontario. This funding commitment also includes new supportive housing for those involved with the justice system, enhanced addiction supports, and mental health and addiction supports for vulnerable and at-risk populations.
